A substantial part of our law practice is devoted to Estate Planning and the preparation of Wills and Trusts as well as the actual probate and administration of Estates. Estate planning includes planning for the proper distribution of your assets upon death as well as planning for the possibility of mental or physical incapacity, retirement or illness. It also includes, in applicable estates, planning to minimize, reduce or eliminate federal and state inheritance taxes which if not properly addressed can approach and exceed fifty percent. Moreover, it may be necessary to plan for liquidity of assets (available cash or cash equivalents) so that certain assets may be preserved and estate inheritance taxes may be paid when due. With respect to estate planning, the firm represents clients on matters involving Estates; Simple Wills and Sophisticated Wills with trust and/or tax saving mechanisms; Advance Directives, Health Care Proxies and Living Wills; Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts; Testamentary and Living Trusts; Life Insurance and Disability Trusts; Probate and Administration as well as Estate Litigation and Will Contests.
Ernest Fox practices in the area of estate planning as described above. Mr. Fox is a graduate of the Fisher School of Business of the Ohio State University where he majored in finance. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1983. He is admitted to practice in New York State and Federal Court as well as the United States Tax Court and belongs to the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and Nassau County Bar Association. Mr. Fox teaches law at the Hofstra University business development center and also serves as an Arbitrator for the local courts. He has performed lectures for charitable, business and civic groups. Mr. Fox is presently recognized as an AARP participating attorney.
